"But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves." - James 1:22

How To Be Saved

First, you must admit that you are a sinner. Sin is anything that breaks God’s law. Those are the things that God has commanded us to do in His word, the Bible. Romans 3:23 says that “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God”. We are all sinners.

• Have you ever told a lie? Even a little white lie? That makes you a liar. (Rev 21:8) But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

• Have you ever stolen anything? Even something as small as a pencil? That makes you a thief. (1Co 6:10) Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

• Have you ever had lustful thoughts? That makes you an adulterer (Matthew 5:28) “But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.”

Secondly, you must realize that sin must be punished.
(Romans 6:23) “For the wages of sin is death…”
(Rev 20:15) “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”

Third, understand that you don’t have to face that punishment because Jesus Christ took the punishment of our sin for us.
(Rom 5:8) But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
(Joh 3:16) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Last of all, you have to accept this free gift of forgiveness.
(Rom 10:9) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
(Rom 10:10) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
(Rom 10:13) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

If you are willing to admit you are a sinner, understand that sin must be punished, and are willing to turn from that sin and accept the forgiveness that only Christ can give because he died for you, then all you have to do is ask God to save you. Just say a simple prayer telling him that you believe and want him to save you. Here is an example:

Dear Lord, I am a sinner. I am sorry for my sins. I know you died to take the punishment for my sins. Please forgive me of my sins and come into my heart and save me. Help me now to live for you. Amen.

Please understand that we are not saved because we pray a prayer; but because we believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ.  If you have any questions, please call us at the church number (336) 468-8610, or e-mail me here.
